Tranquil Grenada is mountainous and volcanic, offering spectacular beauty and Caribbean charm away from the crowds. It has an unspoiled landscape of dramatic crater lakes, waterfalls, gorges and lush tropical rainforests, as well as historic villages and a colourful culture. You can relax on one of its small white-sand beaches, swim in emerald seas, dive amongst coral reefs and shipwrecks, and explore the world's first underwater sculpture park. It is also ideal for sailing.

The capital of Grenada is St George's, a pretty harbour town with 18th century architecture, narrow winding streets and impressive forts such as Fort George, with its panoramic views over the island. You can stroll through the 125 year old Sendall Tunnel to reach the Carenage waterfront promenade.

The 2 mile Grand Anse Beach, with its white sands and aquamarine waters flanked by green hills, is the most impressive on Grenada and is a starting point for snorkelling and diving trips to nearby islands and reefs.

This former British colony is known as the 'Spice Island' and north of St George’s you will find many traditional spice plantations. Nutmeg, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla are just a few of the exotic spices grown here, with one third of the world’s nutmeg coming from this tiny island.

Grand Etang National Park in the mountainous interior has many scenic hiking trails that meander around the island's tallest peaks and dazzling Grand Etang Lake, an extinct volcanic crater. You can also swim in the Seven Sisters waterfall.

The people are warm and welcoming. They are always willing to share their culinary secrets, including the delicious ‘Oil Down’, a mélange of callaloo and meat or fish, with local spices and coconut milk. The Laura Land Herb and Spice Garden in St. David has numerous samples of trees, herbs and spices grown on the island, and you can take a tour to discover the traditional herbs used in local medicine.
