Holidays to Iceland
Spectacular Iceland is a country like no other, known for its incredible glaciers (over 4,500 square miles of them), ice caves, spouting geysers, moss-clad lava fields, crashing waterfalls and over 30 active volcanoes. The scenery is other-worldly with hot springs, boiling mud pits, glacier lagoons filled with icebergs and black sand beaches stretching along the coastline as far as the eye can see.
It is easy to self-drive in this distinctly Nordic country, which is the most sparsely populated in Europe, travelling between colourful fishing villages scattered along majestic fjords. Reykjavík is the most northerly capital in the world and close by is the famous Blue Lagoon, a natural outdoor geo-thermal spa with hot milky blue waters.
Iceland’s natural wonders and vibrant culture can be explored year round, from summer under the midnight sun, to winter in the glow of the Aurora Borealis – the ‘Northern Lights’, best seen between October and April. Its literary legacy stretches from medieval sagas to contemporary thrillers by Nobel Prize winners, and ancient folk stories about the huldufólk (hidden people). Live music is everywhere, as are visual arts and handicrafts. Self-drive car hire is recommended to explore this fascinating country.
All our holidays to Iceland can be tailor-made to your exact requirements, so if you have any special requirements, or need wheelchair accessible accommodation due to limited mobility, just let us know.
