DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Hazyview

You will be met at Mpumalanga Airport and transferred to your hotel situated near Hazyview on the scenic Panorama Route.

Check in and relax in this region that is famous for its beauty and wildlife.

Day 2: Blyde River Canyon

Today we recommend a full day shared tour of the beautiful Drakensberg Panorama Route, including a drive through the green Blyde River Canyon - the third largest in the world.

Enjoy wonderful views from Pinnacle Rock, Wonder View and the Three Rondavels lookout, with the option to take the Graskop Gorge lift (pay locally if you wish to do this activity, as it involves a fairly strenuous walk with plenty of steps & crossing a suspension bridge). Also visit the Lisbon Falls and the unusual Bourke’s Luck Pot Holes - cylindrical holes formed from the swirling waters of the Blyde and Treur Rivers.

Note: Tours depart on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday only.

Day 3: Elephant Sanctuary + Kruger Park

This morning enjoy an included visit to a local Elephant Sanctuary to experience a very special close-up encounter, where for 1 hour you can interact with and feed one of these gentle giants.

Afterwards transfer 1 to 3 hours (depending on its location) to your lodge in the world famous Kruger National Park. After checking in to your lodge, enjoy your first thrilling game drive in an open-top vehicle accompanied by a ranger. Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately and hopefully you will see several species of antelope, zebra, wildebeest and maybe even giraffe today - as well as several of the Big Five - before dining under the stars in the atmosphere that only the African bushveld can provide.

Days 4 & 5: Game Drives

Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day, as you enjoy a thrilling shared open-top game viewing drive with a lodge ranger in the world famous Kruger National Park.

Explore some of this vast game sanctuary that is the size of Wales, offering magnificent game viewing opportunities and the highest concentration of lion in the whole of Africa. Hope to see several of the Big Five today - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino - as well as many other species before returning to your lodge for breakfast.

The rest of the morning is free to relax by the swimming pool or enjoy bird watching at the lodge, before setting out again in the late afternoon for another game drive. With nearly 150 different species of mammals and over 100 species of reptiles in the Kruger National Park, you can hope to see cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, sable antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs and many other interesting animals. With over 500 different bird species including eagles, kingfishers, vultures and storks, outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed.

After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way as you have never seen them before – as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.

Day 6: Fly to Cape Town

Enjoy some final early morning game viewing in the Kruger National Park.

Afterwards transfer to Mpumalanga Airport for your flight to Cape Town Airport, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in this beautiful city, within sight of Table Mountain. Check in and relax in your magnificent surroundings.

Day 7: Explore Cape Town

Today is free for independent sightseeing in Cape Town.

To orientate yourself, we suggest you purchase a pass onboard the convenient Red Route Hop-Off Bus, which stops at all Cape Town’s key sights and attractions, including the Table Mountain cable car (discounted tickets are sold on the bus). Here you can ascend and enjoy one of the world's most famous views. Continue to trendy Camps Bay beach and the many attractions of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (pay all entrance fees locally).

Note: Don't let the colour of the bus confuse you. All buses are red, but they run two different routes - the Red City Route and the Blue Kirstenbosch Route.

Day 8: Cape Point

Today we recommend an optional full day shared tour to the beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you may see baboons, ostrich and perhaps even dolphins or whales in season (July/November).

Your tour travels through Hout Bay and along spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape Point peninsula, returning via Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek, Constantia and Kirstenbosch Gardens. This is a scenic tour of the whole Cape Peninsula, with the optional opportunity of visiting the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

Day 9: Stellenbosch Winelands

Today we recommend an optional full day shared tour to the renowned Stellenbosch Winelands, travelling through the scenic Franschhoek Valley where a handful of French Huguenot refugees started South Africa’s now famous wine industry.

Explore the historic university town of Stellenbosch and several wine estates on this famous wine route, which stretched from Paarl through to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Enjoy a cellar tour and some wine tasting, before returning to Cape Town in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Fly to Victoria Falls

Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel near the mighty Zambezi River.

Check in, settle in and relax whilst you catch your first glimpses of the magnificent ‘Smoke That Thunders’ first discovered by Dr. David Livingstone and still one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The flow of water over the Victoria Falls is greatest from February to June following the summer rains, but they are a magnificent sight at any time of year.

Day 11: Victoria Falls & Zambezi

Today we recommend exploring on foot the mighty Victoria Falls and its rainforests, which offer magnificent views.

Afterwards you may wish to visit Elephants Walk, a small crafts complex across the road from The Kingdom hotel, where you can see talented local artists and sculptors at work and support them by buying one of their items. Alternatively you can participate in various optional activities, such as a helicopter flight over the falls or an elephant interaction.

In the late afternoon we recommend an optional cruise on the Zambezi River where you may see hippos, crocodiles and abundant bird life.

Note: We suggest you take your own raincoat for walking in the rainforest, as those on hire are well used.

Day 12: At leisure

At leisure to explore the town of Victoria Falls on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.

Many optional activities are available in this small town, where adrenalin seekers come to participate in adventure activities such as canoeing down the Zambezi River, white water rafting in the turbulent gorge below the falls (grade 5), abseiling and bungee jumping from Victoria Falls Bridge.

Day 13: Fly Home

Transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight home.
