“It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.”

Top Tips - Expedition Cruises
Be aware that on expedition cruises you will embark and disembark by inflatable zodiac, using a moving gangplank, so you must have sufficient mobility and balance to cope with this.
Select your destination first, and any essential ports of call or special experiences.
Decide on ideal length of cruise.
Then choose the right ship for you, as there are several on offer at different price points.
Study the deck plan and select your cabin (e.g. avoid the front and back of the ship if you are prone to sea sickness).
Check availability for your dates.
Book well ahead to secure an ‘early bird’ discount and your preferred cabin. Unlike ocean cruises, last minute deals are rarely available on expedition cruises.
Alternatively book during the January to March ‘wave season’ when special promotions, free upgrades and solo traveller savings are usually released.
Shoulder season will be cheaper.
Review exactly what is included and what is not (eg drinks, Wi-Fi).
Factor in the cost of gratuities, if not already included.
It’s not a good idea to book your flights separately. Rather keep them as part of a protected ‘package’, in case your cruise dates change.
Pre-book any essential on-board services (e.g. vegetarian meals).
Always arrive at least a day early (i.e. book an extra night at your departure port).
Ensure you equip yourself properly for your expedition cruise and pack according to the clothing list provided (e.g. weather-proof trousers for zodiac landings, and proper thermal clothing where required).
