SAMPLE ITINERARY

The Turks & Caicos islands, which lie south-east of the Bahamas, are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, fringed by crystal clear turquoise waters.

Only eight of the 40 low-lying coral islands and numerous cays that make up this beautiful Caribbean cluster are inhabited, creating a wonderful sense of seclusion. Surrounded by one of the world’s longest coral reefs, this British Overseas Territory offers exceptional snorkelling and diving. It also has unbeatable beaches, with white powdery sands.

Dolphins play in the clear waters and can be viewed either from shore or by boat, whilst humpback whales migrate through the Turks Passage between December and April. Each month after a full moon, you can see hundreds of luminescent glow worms floating in the sea. You can also enjoy stand-up paddle boarding through beautiful mangrove swamps.

The islands are divided into two groups - the Turks Islands, which include Grand Turk, Salt Cay and a few small cays, and the Caicos Islands, which consists of the gateway island of Providenciales (known as ‘Provo’), North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, East Caicos and West Caicos, in addition to many smaller islands and cays.

Historic Grand Turk is where Christopher Columbus set foot on his voyage to the New World in 1492, and the capital, Cockburn Town, has charming historic buildings as well as an interesting National Museum. The Grand Turk Lighthouse is the islands’ most famous landmark.

Wade’s Green Loyalist Plantation, located in Kew on North Caicos Island, is one of the best surviving examples of colonial cotton plantation buildings in the Caribbean.

Provo is home to expansive Grace Bay Beach, arguably one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, and offers a range of luxury hotels, spas, designer shops and top restaurants, as well as easy access to various island resorts. Amanyara’s zen-like feel and wonderful spa make it a favourite with A-listers who want a secluded hideaway, whilst COMO Parrot Cay is situated on a private island.

Wherever you stay, you can dine on fresh seafood including lobsters and conch, whilst enjoying warm and friendly hospitality. In December each year, you can enjoy a gourmet safari at Grace Bay Club Resort, enjoying each of five courses at a different restaurant.

The coral reefs that surround these islands, including the 14 mile reef off Provo and the underwater wall off Grand Turk, are world class and a diving mecca, with a huge variety of tropical marine life, including sharks. You can also discover some of the hidden bays and coves favoured by pirates in the 17th and 18th centuries.

These islands are relatively unspoiled, so you're bound to find a little corner of paradise all to yourself, where you can enjoy the irresistible laid-back vibe.
